Eisley is a band out of Tyler, TX. I’ve never been a huge fan of their music until this new album they just put out. I really really enjoy it. It is definitely a much more mature sound than their previous albums. I got to shoot the first two songs of their performance at the Paste Magazine SXSW Party last week. Check out their new album, The Valley. Also, if anybody knows the Dupree sisters…hook a brotha up! Haha.

In case you don’t follow me on Twitter or Facebook and weren’t inundated by my constant updating last week, I was in Austin, TX for South by Southwest. I got to see so many of my favorite artists/bands last week. One of the most memorable performances last week was from The Civil Wars. If you don’t know who The Civil Wars is, go to your closest mirror and look at yourself and then give yourself a nice big slap across the face. Haha. Ok, don’t do that, but definitely check them out. Often times, simplicity is best. And that’s exactly what they do. Great guitar pickings and the occasional piano are the backdrop for the incredible harmonies by Joy Williams and John Paul White. Seriously do yourself a favor and pick up their albums. Actually, there’s a 7 song album from one of their SXSW performances on iTunes.

Usually when I’m shooting in a room as dark as this one, I’ve got my camera settings cranked. I was able to get some great shots by having a remote flash set up on stage left. When I started editing these photos, I was trying to make them look really clean and “perfect”. It wasn’t till I accidentally clicked on one of my photoshop actions that I got this really cool look on the last Dignan photo. I loved it. I loved how “imperfect” it looked. I deleted everything I worked on and started over from square one. This was a great show and hope I did it justice with these photos. Check out all of these great bands and support them and buy their albums on iTunes.

The Paper Route are probably one of my favorite bands right now. I was really glad I got to see them over the summer. I shot these at Cornerstone Festival. They played a short set, but it was still great. The tent was packed and I got stuck in a spot in the front. I couldn’t move around, so all my shots were from that spot. The other thing that kinda stunk was I only had my 70-200mm lens which made it quite difficult to get wide shots. But, I was still able to get some good stuff. Enjoy!
